A ground-breaking was held for The Tun Tavern, a replica of the birthplace of the Marine Corps. A project of the Tun Tavern Legacy Foundation, the building will be constructed 250 yards from the original Tun, at 19 S 2nd Street in Philadelphia. Rittenhouse Appraisals assisted with appraising the site where The Tun will sit.
Fundraising efforts are ongoing. The Foundation hopes to raise an additional $8 million in order to begin construction. The goal is to open The Tun by the 250th birthday of the Marine Corps in 2025.
